Precious Metal Clay is a combination of water, binders, and small particles of either silver or gold. It is molded into a desired shape then heated in a kiln to remove the binder and fuse the metal powder into a solid form. The result retains all of the design created by the artist, transformed into a precious and durable object which is 99.9 % fine silver or pure 24K gold.

The development of Precious Metal Clay (PMC) was done by Mitsubishi Materials Corporation in the early 1990's. Their scientists have obtained several patents for its use.
